IUI #4 - She'll be Coming 'Round the Mountain When She Comes!

So today was my follicle scan for my 4th IUI cycle. I had two good looking follicles on my right side (my left side is still a huge slacker!) My last shot for this cycle was tonight, which was the trigger shot. Our IUI is set for Wednesday morning.

I must say I am just filled with excitement. It is really nice that no matter how many times we are shot down month after month, I can still feel really hopeful. My husband and I were talking today about how it sometimes does not seem possible that we will ever get that positive HPT but how it will just be so awesome when we do!

We spent this weekend up north in Michigan with my family. It was so nice to get out of town again. Friday night we decided to play disc golf on the mountain of the ski resort we were at. The time I had to give myself one of my Follistim shots was while we were on the course. I packed up my meds in a cooler and brought them with me on the mountain. About the 9th hole (which was the highest point on the course), my husband and I got out the goods and I gave myself the shot. I have to say that is a first! A shot in my stomach on the top of a mountain! It certainly made us giggle because infertility has made us do some crazy things. At least we do them together! :)

Yesterday we went down to the lake by the place we were staying. I walked in the water for quite a while and just soaked in the beauty of the place. Up north Michigan is my favorite place to be besides home. It is really peaceful and as I looked around the lake/mountain it reminds me of how beautiful life is...sometimes I just forget to look.

My question for all of you is: What are some of the craziest things infertility has found you doing? Just curious! :)

  1. Sneeking a pee cup into the bathroom at work. That's about as crazy as it's gotten so far. :)

I'm so hopeful for you this cycle!!!

  3. Sounds like a beautiful weekend! I have only been to michigan one time and it was kindof close to detroit which I KNOW didn't do MI any justice. I think IF has made me think crazy things before...like phantom pregnancy symptoms...If my ovaries are twitching or whatever, I think "maybe I'm pregnant?!?" which I never have been...IF plays games with my head

  4. Ah...northern Michigan (as I sing the Kid Rock song in my head). We used to spend our summers on Walloon Lake. I just spent a week in SE MI. Somehow it just doesn't compare. LOL!

    Best wishes on your cycle.

  6. Ooh, I like this post for so many reasons!
    1. Your optimism rocks! I want to channel your energy and hold some of it in. Although I am generally optimistic I did not/do not "feel it this cycle".

    2. Fun with your husband, fun with IF? Love it, the crazy things we do to have children.

    3. Appreciating nature, it doesn't get much better!

    4. Something crazy? Not sure, but I guess it would be the first time I had to give myself a shot I took the ENTIRE day off work to psych myself up for it. Funny to think of that now, what a baby I was.

I hope this is it for you, hope the IUI went swimmingly! (duhh)

  8. LOVE your attitude!

I hope your IUI went well today! I'm a couple of days behind you.

I haven't done anything that crazy, but I realized today that I've had a sperm collection cup (unused!!) on the passenger seat of my car for about 2 months (for our last IUI, my husband wound up collecting at the RE's, so we didn't use it). I guess that's just weird, not crazy :).

  10. Yay for northern Michigan! How amazing to find someone else who can appreciate it! :) I grew up in a small-ish tourist town up there, and go back at least once a year if I can.
Glad you're staying positive! It can be difficult sometimes (stating the obvious, right?) but sometimes getting away can at least bring some much-needed peace. And no, that's not my way of telling you to just relax. I promise! :) Just happy to see you enjoying life.
    Best of luck to you!

  12. You know what I love most about this story? That you didn't allow yourself to let the whole routine screw up your fun. I love it!! How did it go this morning? I'll be thinking lots of fertilize-y thoughts for you the next few days! Keep us posted! :)
